With the advancement of social media and the creation of instagram-worthy food, most of us fall prey to trying out "that" hipster cafe you saw on Facebook or Instagram.
We gather our friends and queue for hours, just to dig our fork into a bingsoo or a lava thick toast. At the end of the meal, we all reach for our own conclusion of whether the dessert was worth its hype. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Well, here are 10 mouth-watering desserts that will give you ample reason to round up your friends and go for yet another cafehopping adventure — to uncover if these desserts are truly worth its hype.
#1 | THE INSIDER-WORTHY LAVA TOAST FROM BAKERY CHEF
We would like to think that this Matcha Lava Thick Toast (S$12.80) that was featured on Insider Food is definitely worth its hype. With each toast being freshly baked on a daily basis, and then carefully piped by the head chef... only a limited amount is available everyday.
Long queues and "sold out" signs are expected on weekends, so head down early to avoid feeling disappointed.

#3 | A LOVING FAMILY-MAN'S TWIST ON THICK TOAST AT MEET & MELT
Meet & Melt has a different story from the rest. It started out with a grandfather's love for his family and his desire to create organic ice cream for his grandkids. Eventually, his multiple experiments with desserts and the encouragement from his family led to the birth of this neighbourhood dessert cafe, serving fancy milkshakes and buttered-up thick toasts.
Try their Green Tea Toast (S$12.90) which was re-invented just for this dessert list.

#5 | EVERY TART COMES WITH A LAYERED SURPRISE AT TART BLANC
I have had layered cakes, but never a layered tart. Tart Blanc is a quaint tart café in Millenia Walk, following a Scandinavian interior design. All of their tarts are incredibly pretty to see and unbelievably delicious to eat. Try their Blueberry Lavender Chocolate Tart (S$7.50) or Chicky Mango Tart (S$7.50).

#6 | THE INTERNATIONALLY-FAMOUS HONEY TOAST HAS GOTTEN A LOCAL TWIST AT DAZZLING CAFÉ PINK
With two outlets in Singapore and several more throughout the globe, this Taiwanese F&B franchise is taking the industry by storm. Dazzling Café Pink is the latest outlet to open in Singapore.
To differentiate itself from her sister restaurant at Capitol Piazza, she has a couple of tricks up her sleeve. With one of them being this Pandan Gula Melaka Honey Toast ($18.90) that is only available at this Orchard Gateway outlet – I love how every tiny cube of toast is piped with delicious kaya.

#7 | NO CRUMBS ARE LEFT BEHIND IN THE JARS AT FART TARTZ
Two weeks into the start of their first café at Singapore Expo, I discovered Fart Tartz by chance. Since then I have been watching them grow: improving of their recipes, creating and adding new items into the menu, opening of their second café at South Bridge Road.
They have come a long way and have established their own footing in this industry. Try their Sea Salt Nutella Tart In A Jar (S$6.80) or their Molten Chocolate Lava Cake In A Jar (S$11.90), with the latter being available only at their South Bridge Road outlet.

#8 | MINI CHOUX THAT WOULD HAVE YOU POPPING NON-STOP INTO YOUR MOUTH AT OLLELLA
Oo.. These bite-size babies are a definite must-try. The young baker is a chemical engineer by training, who decided right after achieving her degree, to pursue her passion for baking in the United States.
Armed with these precious choquettes, she returns to her homeland to open OLLELLA Café (a partner café with The Pourover Bar). For first timers, you should try her Mini Platter (S$24) which consists of 8 different mini choux, each being a different flavour.

# 9 | A LOCAL'S FRENCH TWIST ON DURIANS AT THE QUARTERS
The Quarters is a bistro-cafe serving restaurant quality Asian fusion cuisine that is largely inspired by our Southeast Asian palate.
All durian lovers can rejoice over a new durian-flavoured dessert, DurianCanBoleh (S$8.50). The end-result of this durian crème brûlée is an extremely smooth texture with the unforgivable fragrance from the king-of-all-fruits. Additionally, the cracking sound of the caramelised sugar atop is so satisfying.

With the recent hype for their well-received Cookie Butter Soft Serve Ice Cream, paired with Raspberry and Rose Flavour Burst Mochi Donuts (S$15), this artisanal ice cream café is creative in their ice cream flavours and combinations.
