More importantly, what gift will you be surprising your lady date with that would make her quote Britney Spears' famous line, "Oh, you shouldn't have!".

Read on for some jewelry ideas to present her with this Valentine's Day.

Silver Classic Solitaire CZ Necklace in Silver ($25.80)

A simple jewelry can go a long way. It is a token to express your affections and gratitude to your beloved. This token can also be worn on a daily basis to remind them on how much you love them, and how lucky they are to have you.

Aveavo is an online jewellery boutique offering affordable cosmetic jewelry options for the ladies. They have a wide collection of bracelets, necklaces, ear studs and rings for you to choose from, with every sort of design that would suit her needs.

My personal favourites are classical designs owned by Aveavo, such as this necklace that I'm wearing. This simple design allows me to pair the necklace with just about any outfit, and it helps to elevate my look without taking the limelight away from me.

Dice CZ Double-sided Earring ($25.80)

Most of Aveavo's jewellery are made using cubic zirconia, a man-made crystalline material that is colourless, hard and flawless. Cubic Zirconia looks a lot like diamonds, and are often mistaken for its higher priced cousin.

Looking Effortlessly Pretty In Your CNY Photos With Eyelash Extensions Done At Bejeweled

Getting eyelash extensions on really helps to make you look pretty without much effort. And if you were to get a good pair of eyelash extensions on, they won't look fake nor cause discomfort to your eyes.

Here in this post, I will be sharing more about the lash extensions from Bejeweled, which is possibly the softest and lightest pair of fluttery lashes that I have ever had on – for a moment, I really thought that my extensions were my real lashes! Read on to find out more.

Looking effortlessly pretty during last December's SONY A5100 event

CNY is happening this weekend and it is also probably when Instagram will be the most alive, what with everyone sharing their #cnyootd #cny2017 pics.

Now, you wanna look good in all the pictures that will be going online but here's the thing about looking good, you don't wanna spend that much time sitting before a mirror dabbling with a ton of makeup products. You just wanna dash out of the house ASAP to visit as many relatives as possible and collect as many angpaos as you can!

This is where a good set of lash extensions will come in handy because you'll find yourself looking good 24/7 at any angle – or at least I did!

First step of the procedure is to clean your lashes from any remnants eyelash glue and/or mascara

Let me re-emphasise the importance on a good set of lash extensions: I personally like lashes that are soft and light because comfort is my priority, and I have had terribles experiences with lash extensions before.

Lashes used at Bejeweled are super fine, extremely soft and ultra light-weight

I once had eyelash extensions that are incredibly heavy and coarse, and those weighed my eyelids down and caused pain to my eyes. The pain was multiplied when I showered as water was caught on the lashes and the extra (water) weight made it extremely painful for my eyes – I would walk out of my shower with red eyes caused by the pain.

The bad lash extensions were also so thick and coarse that it scratched against my eyelids, resulting in a slight rash and unbearable itch. That itch is so real that I wanted to just pluck out all of my lash extensions, even if it means losing all of my real lashes too. #truestory

I was given the Glamorous C extensions

So when I went to Bejeweled for lash extensions, I made sure to check with the beautician on the type of lashes that they use.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered how fine, soft and lightweight their lash extensions were! I could barely contain my excitement and was eager to get on with the procedure!

About 2-3 strands of lash extension is carefully added to your real lash hair

The lashes looked absolutely natural upon application and no one could guess that I had extensions on!

As each lash was really fine, it did not cloud my vision like how a thick pair of falsies would. There was also no pain as I couldn't feel the weight of the lashes, and omg showering was a breeze! I did not walk out of the bathroom with bloodshot eyes, thank goodness!

As for the itch from lash extensions, I do not recall experiencing any at all. Woohoo!

Types of lash extensions available at Bejeweled

Bejeweled offers three different types of lash perming and lash extensions:
  • Natural Perm - $38
  • Classic Perm - $48
  • Princess Perm - $48

  • Natural J Extension - $98 (Suitable for people with straight-down lashes)
  • Glamorous C Extension - $118 (What I had on, for people with a slight curl to their lashes)
  • Dramatic Q Extension - $128 (Go for this if you are looking for a barbie doll/glam diva look)

If you buy a package of 8 sessions at once, Bejeweled will be rewarding you with 2 complimentary sessions on the house.

You can expect your lash extensions to last from two weeks to a month, depending on how you take care of them. Frequent face washing would cause the lashes to drop out sooner, and so would oil-based makeup remover.

For more information, you can always enquire from the beautician or read here. To know about the latest promotions at Bejeweled, do check out their Facebook or Instagram page.

Exploring Taiwan with YourWifi: A Reliable Source for Steady Network Connection

I recently returned from Taiwan, where I had a two weeks vacation.

It was suppose to be a relaxing trip for Victor and I where we escape the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore. Unfortunately things went severely wrong and we spent half of our trip fussing over me because I experienced two bouts of food poisoning in two different cities.

The food poisoning got so bad that I had to go the A&E at a hospital in Tainan for medical treatment.

While I was in the hospital, I had to call back home and ask my mom about what documents that she would need from the doctor in order to process the claims for my travel insurance (perks of having your mom as your insurance agent yay!).

After I made the call, I felt so grateful to have steady network connection and a smooth whatsapp call.

Most people would just purchase a tourist SIM card when abroad, or rely on whatever free wifi connection that they can tap on throughout their trip.

Tourist SIM cards are great, but it can be quite a trouble changing between SIM cards and if you are travelling in a group of two or more, the combined cost of all the SIM cards bought is not worthwhile at all. Don't even get me started on the free (unreliable) wifi connections available in cafés, they are mostly a hit-or-miss attempt and the network connection is usually unsteady – it irritates the shit out of me.

I am glad that I brought a travel wifi router from YourWifi during my Taiwan trip. The connection was immensely strong – we tested it out and I still had connection at 10 metres apart – and the network is definitely reliable.

Makeup Tutorial: A Simple Way to Create The Smokey Eye Look with Black Gel-Liner

I've always wanted to recreate a smokey eye look, but I chicken out most of the time because I am afraid of things going horribly wrong and myself looking like a panda.

Most makeup tutorials utilise the method of layering on layers and layers of black eyeshadow till you get the desired smokey effect. It might sound easy but it is easy to go wrong – put too much and you've turned yourself into a raccoon, put too little and you don't get that smokey effect.

This tutorial is inspired by Dave Kim, makeup artist of Etude House. He dropped by Singapore last October, to promote Etude House's Pink Skull Halloween collection. He showcased a couple of makeup tricks and this is one of them, creating a smokey eye look using black gel-liner pen.

I thought it was an ingenious idea because you get to control the level of 'smokiness' easily and it is absolutely fuss-free. Anyone who is looking to try out a smokey eye look should definitely give these steps a go!

Unfortunately the Pink Skull collection has been discontinued for sale in Singapore. You might still find it abroad, like countries in Taiwan or Korea. I recently returned from Taiwan and noticed that their Etude House stores were still selling the Pink Skull collection!

An alternative to getting these eyeshadow shades in Singapore is to purchase the individual eyeshadow pots. I cross-referenced the colours and you can find most of the shades that I used in this tutorial being sold as individual pots. The cream blushers are still available on their online store, so do check that out.
