Matcha Molten Lava Cookie Set, with a scoop of 'Brown Butter' ice cream ($8.50)

Chocolate Molten Lava Cookie Set, with a scoop of 'Nougat' ice cream ($8.50)

Rating: 4.5/5

My two cents:

If you are looking to have the next coolest dessert in town, then you gotta check out Kooks Creamery!

Located in Serangoon, this quaint ice cream parlour is situated in the same block as popular swiss roll café, Plain Jane. Kooks offers a range of artisan ice cream, made from scratch by owner Sue Lynn, who was once a graphic designer turned dessert-maker.

The ice cream flavours seen range from classical flavours like 'Vanilla', 'Speculoos' and 'Earl Grey Tea', to more funky flavours such as 'Nougat', 'Brown Butter', and fruity flavours like 'Lychee Raspberry' and 'Rock Melon'.

Speaking of Brown Butter, it is officially my favourite ice cream flavour to date and IMO goes best with the lava cookie sets.

Brown butter is essentially made up of caramelised butter with brown sugar, and the combination of the ice cream with the cookie is unbelievable! It helps to heighten the flavour of the cookie dough, and emphasises the matcha/chocolate filling within the cookie. Saying that I love it, is an understatement to both the ice cream and the lava cookie.

As for which of the two lava cookie sets that I prefer, I would have to say BOTH!!!!

The matcha lava cookie set had a light matcha filling that was not overpowering in taste; same goes for the chocolate – it's milk chocolate by the way – which wasn't overly rich nor too sweet.

FYI for those who dread overly sweet stuff, fret not because at Kooks Creamery, attention has been paid to the amount of sugar mixed into the desserts. There are after all many school kids who visit the ice cream parlour, as well as old grannies who still possess a sweet tooth!

Hang out at Tart Blanc for a lovely afternoon, our whimsical modern concept is the perfect quiet hideout from the hustle of the city.

Blueberry Lavender Chocolate Tart ($7.50)
Lavender chocolate ganache, homemade blueberry jam, lavender honey soaked joconde and blueberry mousse

A layered blueberry chocolate tart that isn't too sweet. The blueberry mousse was smooth in texture and provided a tinge of tanginess to balance off the sweetness level of the tart.

As for the chocolate, it wasn't overly rich nor sweet, and provided just enough cocoa to ignite a spark of addiction to this dessert.

Chicky Mango Tart ($7.50)
Lychee mochi cake, a thin layer of white chocolate coconut creameux filling, and a mango glazed mango mousse

Another layered tart by Tart Blanc, and this one is even more addictive than the former. The thin layer of white chocolate coconut cream gave a hint of sweetness to this mango tart, and you really have to savour it carefully to taste the bit of coconut added.

The lychee mochi cake was an interesting surprise as the chewiness of it was addictive and went really well with the crispy tart base. As for the lychee flavour, it was a great match with the mangoes, and resulted in a dessert which would leave you feel satiated and delighted.

Rating: 4.5/5

My two cents:

I looooooovee tarts! They are one of my favourite pastries in the world, and I would gladly have them over cakes any day of the week.

To be absolutely honest, my expectations for Tart Blanc were pretty low when I first saw their tarts – they looked so pretty that I thought they were gimmicky, and with all gimmicky desserts... taste is usually compromised.

Being a tart fan, I have high expectations for tarts. So imagine my surprise when I cut opened the two tarts and caught sight of the pretty layers, that got me feeling excited. Then I shoved forkfuls of each tart into my mouth, and boom! Explosions in my mouth baby! The tarts were that good!!!!

These tarts might be a bit pricey (depending on your financial income) but I promise you that they are worth every penny.

Blueberry Lavender Chocolate Tart was amazing as the blueberry mousse disintegrated once it touched my tongue, with hints of blueberry lingering on for a couple of seconds before dissipating. As for the chocolate, I generally detest chocolate in my tarts as they can are either overly-sweet or rich, and that would cause me to feel sick of the tart after awhile.

This chocolate tart however got me going back to it again and again. The chef has obviously done sufficient R&D to produce such brilliant recipes. The chocolate was so smooth, and I strongly advised having a little of each component of the tart on your fork before you send it into your mouth. It is so damn good!

As for the Chicky Mango Tart, it blew my hat off the top of my head. As the name said, "MANGO", I was expecting to be bombarded mangoes – as delicious as mangoes are, you can get pretty annoyed with eating too much mango!

Instead I was greeted with a crunch from the crispy tart base, followed by a nice rush of mangoes before it transited to lychees, and then came the chewy bit of the mochi cake. As soon as I tasted the lychee, I swerved around my chair and asked the staff, "Woah! Are there lychees in this tart?"

I think I might have shocked with them comment as they appeared nervous and must have thought it was a bad thing to taste lychees in a mango cake. Disclaimer here, IT IS NOT A BAD THING! I LOVE IT!!!

The addition of a secondary fruit provided a nice symphony to the primary fruit, and prevented the eater from getting sick of the tart so easily. You will end up sending forkfuls and forkfuls into your mouth, and next thing you know, you've cleared your plate!

The tarts at Tart Blanc comes in 3 sizes: mini 1.25 inch, regular 3 inch and large 7 inch. For the full menu of their tarts on display, click here to view.

The Bakery Chef: The Instagram-Worthy Lava Toast Featured On "Insider" That You Have To Try At Bukit Merah

Honey-glazed Brioche Toast with Salted Egg Yolk Filling and Vanilla Ice Cream ($12.80)

Charcoal Thick Toast with Matcha Filling and Matcha Ice Cream ($12.80)

Passionfruit Rainbow Cake ($5.80)

Rating: 4/5

My two cents:

The Bakery Chef, a quaint café located at Bukit Merah is rarely quiet, especially since its feature on Insider. The interior decor is kept simple and cozy, from the brick walls to the tungsten lighting and a small wall filled with polaroid images.

I looked around the caf̩ and felt warm from the sight. There is always a crowd in the caf̩ and no empty tables readily in sight Рif you go during the weekends be prepared to queue for a seat!

Every diner at the café was taking photos of their dessert, placing forkfuls of food in their mouth, their face lighting up as they gave nods of approval to their fellow diners, everyone chatted happily while sipping on their artfully-decorated coffee... Everybody had a smile on their face.

Seeing all the happy faces in the café, I felt a foreign sense of excitement and anticipation for my food's arrival.

What came out from the kitchen first was the Honey-glazed Brioche Toast with Salted Egg Yolk Filling and Vanilla Ice Cream. They made an excellent choice to glazed the brioche toast with honey, so as to complement with the savoury taste of the salted egg yolk feeling.

With that said, I am unfortunately not a huge fan of their salted egg yolk filling as I felt that it was a tad too sweet and smooth, and hence it lost the crux of salted egg yolk which is the savoury rich flavour combined with a grainy texture.

This is nonetheless still a great lava toast to start with, and do remember to consume it together with the vanilla ice cream. When you are getting a sick of the flavours, have a bite of the strawberry with their in-house made whip cream. The purpose of it is to refresh your palate so that you can continue enjoying your toast!

The Charcoal Thick Toast with Matcha Filling and Matcha Ice Cream had me falling in love with Matcha all over again. The toast was crispy and complemented well with the thick matcha filling.

I preferred this toast to the former one as the flavours were less crazy. The matcha filling was also less liquid-y thus it took longer to become soggy (IMO it's a good thing) and that made it easier to appreciate and enjoy this toast.

I have a comment though: What's with all the charcoal toast?! Sure it brings out the colour and perhaps makes it instagram-worthy, but it rarely does anything to the flavour and few have provided the "smoky" taste that charcoal food is suppose to bring. Someone, please explain this to me.

The Passionfruit Rainbow Cake is my favourite of all the desserts! It is a nice change of having regular vanilla flavoured rainbow cake. This is not only just pretty, but it also tastes really good!

The cake texture was fantastic... it was smooth and fluffy, the sweetness level was on point, and together with the passionfruit cream it added a tinge of sourness and flavour that would have diners returning back for more! I don't really like cakes but this one is so good, and I would definitely have this on my must-try cake list!

The Bakery Chef is the place to be if you are looking to enjoy a nice cup of coffee with some quality cakes, toasts or artisanal ice cream with some friends. Do be warned that this might not be the place if you are looking for some quiet time, and it can be a tad too rowdy to have a serious business conversation.

If you should conform to your social phobia but would still like to visit The Bakery Chef, try going during the early hours of the café's operation. It should be relatively quiet and peaceful then.

Here are some things that you should also know:
1) A limited number of toasts is made per day and only one (of each type) of toast is available per table*
2) Waffles are served from 4-6pm
3) Soft serve closes 2 hours before closing time

*The cafe has set a rule on the number of toasts to be purchased. This is to enable more toasts to go around and thus more people will get to enjoy them! Be nice, don't make a fuss and share your toast! Bring out your inner #singathecourtesylion.

Ice Cream Croissant-Wich ($8.90)

*NEW* Featuring their two latest ice cream flavours: Black Sesame Ice Cream & Cranberry Sorbet

Rating: 4/5

My two cents:

Let's start by talking a little bit about the main types of food provided and the atmosphere exuded by the cafe.

Flavour Flings Caf̩ focuses on providing their diners with Modern American and French All-Day Breakfast and Brunch delights Рwith a little twist to the flavours, ingredients and food presentation Рin a zen and natural dining ambience.

The café used tons of textured materials (such as pebbles, gravels, wood, bricks and grass patches) to invoke a sense of zen feeling in their customers. I am a fan of the relaxing atmosphere and it would be what I am looking for when finding a venue for a nice Sunday brunch!

Now about the food... Yeah sure, the Salted Egg Yolk Croissant isn't a new thing on their menu but I had to try it since it is the reason for the whole salted egg yolk craze in Singapore! Unfortunately I am not a huge fan of their salted egg yolk croissant, even if it is the "original" version.

I found that the salted egg yolk filling had too much custard in it, had only a wincy tinge of salted egg yolk, and despite the texture of croissant being very flaky and crispy, there wasn't enough butter in it to impress me. Nonetheless it is a pretty decent salted egg yolk croissant, and if you are looking to try one, I would recommend theirs!

Moving onto the The Supreme 2 Burger, first impression was that it had a shit load of meat! I'm not saying that it is a bad thing, I was just very surprised at the amount of meat and the impressive flavours within the burger!

If you look at the description, there is A LOT of components packed into one gargantuan burger, but the flavours surprisingly make sense and do come together! I love the added touch of the curry mayo and the pancake-battered onion rings; this burger is soooo good!

I would highly recommend this to meat lovers, however here is a word of advice, don't try solo-ing the burger unless you are incredulously famished or are a heavy eater. Also, don't expect to be eating this burger like a gentleman/dame – it is impossible!

I was never fond of butternut squash, but Flavour Flings' Butternut Risotto changed my perspective on this vegetable! This risotto is different from most risottos as it leans towards the sweet side in terms of its taste.

The risotto might come off as odd to some people in the first few bites but it gets better with a few more mouthfuls (I promise you that). It pairs off really well with the shimeiji mushroom and croutons, both giving texture to this unique rice dish.

Lastly, to wrap off the meal with some dessert... their Ice Cream Croissant-Wich is special but something that I do not get. I tried my best to understand and appreciate the flavours and texture behind the dish but simply couldn't – ice cream and croissants are just not meant to be together (or at least for now). I found the combination weird, and even more so with the scatter of chocolate powder and corn flakes.

On a side note, the Black Sesame Ice Cream is rich in flavour and a tad creamy hence I believe that it will appeal to audiences who fancy black sesame glutinous rice balls or black sesame paste. As for the Cranberry Sorbet, it was refreshing and perfect for a hot and sunny Singaporean day. Do note though that the sorbet leans towards the citrus side and might come off as sour to some.

In conclusion, here are the dishes that I would highly recommend to try at Flavour Flings Café: The Supreme 2 Burger and Butternut Risotto.

Do check out their Facebook page and Instagram for the latest updates on the latest additions to their menu and/or promotions.

Laser Bust Enhancement: How To Get Bigger Boobs Without Going Under The Knife

Disclaimer: Pictures shown in this post can be rather graphic. Viewer discretion advised.

Before I begin dwelling into the details of this bust treatment, I need to specify that I am a fan of my own breasts and I am thankful for the great genetics that I have inherited from my mom (thanks mummy!).

However like all most women, we nitpick on our physical features and I am no exception. I am currently a 34C/36B (I choose the size to wear depending on the cutting of my bra and my intent to hide or reveal more skin).

Further on in this article, I will share about the problems that I have with my own bust and how Only Aesthetics will be helping me to resolve those issues in the next 2 months of my treatment with them.

About a month back, I was offered the option of undergoing Laser Bust Enhancement Treatment with
Only Aesthetics.

Only Aesthetics is a part of Singapore's Largest Medical Aesthetics Group established since 2005. It was created based on the principle of providing scientifically-proven medical aesthetics treatment, backed with the latest technology in medical aesthetics.

The centre's name "ONLY" came about from it being the first true aesthetics clinic in Singapore who have been providing these leading-edge technology and scientifically-proven treatments since the beginning.

The clinic's treatment room with a minimalistic decor

The clinical group's cutting edge is their reasonably-priced medical aesthetics treatment which are genuine, have a high cost price, have been approved by the FDA, and are based on the latest technologies in the market.

They offer a range of aesthetics treatment and such as hair removal, facial issues (acne, facial pigmentation, dark eye circles, wrinkles etc), body fat problems, feminine conditions (vagina laxity, UTI, saggy/small boobs). If you would like to find out more about the variety of services offered, click here.

Simple black dressing gown to switch into prior to the treatments

For a couple of years now, I have had issues with the positioning of my breasts. I find that they are more apart than what I would like them to be, and they don't fill up my bra cups as nicely as what I see on adverts (bad method of comparison but hey, what other choices do I have?)

I listed my concerns with the team at O Medical Clinic and they assured me that they would work towards solving my breast issues with the upcoming bust treatment sessions.

More about the main topic of discussion: Laser Bust Enhancement Package.

The treatment package is a revolutionising breast enlargement method that delivers satisfactory results without having to go under a knife! The non-surgical procedure does not involve any drugs, needles or incisions.

All treatments in the package are non-invasive, there is no experience of any downtime; which means we can resume our daily routine immediately after the treatment session!

The Laser Bust Enhancement package comprises of 3 main treatments that would help to stimulate breast tissues and expand fat cells lying within. This in turn encourages our breast to grow naturally, and while increasing in size, it also helps to lift and firm our bust line.

The 3 steps are:
  1. Laser Bust Enhancement - To stimulate breast tissue growth using laser energy technology, expand fat cells, and stimulate repair of connective tissue to give a lifting effect
  2. Lymphatic Drainage Breast Massage - To stimulate our mammary glands for the enhancement and firming up of our breasts
  3. Breast Suction Enlargement Pump
- To promote blood flow and breast tissue growth through gentle suction, as well as the stimulation of the mammary gland to increase production of new breast tissue cells
I have personally witnessed a change in my bust from the very first treatment session, and I have the numbers to prove it – you'll see the measurements in awhile! And if you would take my boyfriend's word for it, he says that he sees a difference and is (I quote) "very happy with the results!"

Step 1 – Laser Bust Enhancement

The latest technique "Laser Bust Enhancement" makes use of intense pulsed light (IPL) to lift and firm the boobs, or increase their size. The laser helps to stimulate a completely natural growth process experienced throughout puberty and pregnancy.

Oestrogen is produced by a woman's body during puberty and pregnancy and the amount of tissue that the hormones form would determine the size, shape and fullness of the breasts.

The micro-beam from the laser will encourage oestrogen production while mimicking the process of natural growth.

Cooling gel to be used with the laser machine

During the 30 minute session, the gun-like handpiece is manoeuvred over the chest, emitting a micro-beam wavelength which activates the nerves within the breast.

This process increases blood pressure in the capillaries, promotes microcirculation, thickens the connective tissue and encourages the breast cells to enlarge. It also tightens the collagen fibres causing the skin to lift.

What you will feel in the midst of the procedure is a slight burning sensation, kinda like when you've accidentally touched a hot pot of water. The sensation is momentarily when the laser is shot into your breast, and once the handpiece has left your skin, the feeling would be gone.

It can be a little uncomfortable but not intolerable. You can also choose to tell your therapist to tune down the level of the laser and it would help to lessen the discomfort.

FYI I have a low tolerance of pain, so the description of my pain level is subjective to my own experience.

"Laser Bust Enhancement" makes use of intense pulsed light (IPL) to lift and firm the boobs...

Laser Bust Enhancement promises no downtime, bruising, or bed rest. The only side-effects are minor tingling or warm sensations (caused by the reactivation of the nerve) during the first few weeks, and firmness towards the end (which indicates the development of new tissue).

This treatment is unfortunately not suitable for suitable and a pre-assessment is required before undergoing the treatment. For more information on the pre-assessment, click here.

Pain score: 2/10

Step 2 – Lymphatic Drainage Breast Massage

The Lymphatic Drainage Breast Massage aids blood circulation while draining our lymph nodes of toxins causing armpit fats. At the same time, it stimulates the mammary glands within our breasts.

The massage helps in the shaping of our breast for a fuller and perkier effect, evening out the breast size and shortening the gap between the breasts for a rounder and sexier cleavage (think: Victoria Secret Model!)

I feel sorry to say this but out of the three steps, this is my least favourite one because it hurts like a bitch! However for the level of pain experienced, I would say that the results are worth it.

I will provide a detailed description on the experience for your knowledge. A word of advice, do take my description with a pinch of salt as this is my personal experience and what you feel might be different from mine.

Throughout the whole process, it really hurts on two occasions: 1) when they rub my lymph nodes because it becomes sore and uncomfortable, 2) and when they apply pressure on the mammary gland in order to stimulate it.

You should know that there are two forms of pressure applied on the mammary gland which are the most uncomfortable of the lot.
  1. A rotational rubbing motion on your breast around the mammary gland
  2. A downwards pressing motion on your mammary gland which would make you feel like milk is about to explode from your nipples

It can get really uncomfortable – I yelped several times throughout my treatment and even shed a couple of tears – and this is where you really need to communicate with your therapist. Do not be a fool and try to hold it all in!

Your therapist will adjust the pressure and massage techniques based on your experience. Remember, they are there to help!!!!

Pain score: 8/10

Step 3 – Breast Suction Enlargement Pump

Breast enlargement pumps operate through a process known as "tissue expansion". By applying a gentle suction to the breast tissue, the machine is able to promote blood flow and tissue growth.

The gentle vacuum suctioning causes our skin and tissue to stretch, and as a direct result of the stretching, new tissue grows and breast size increases. The breast enlargement pump can also expand our mammary gland tissue which increases production of new breast tissue cells.

During treatment, the suction is followed by a low vibration masssage that stimulates breast regrowth. The suctioning occurs at a low frequency current that stimulates blood and lymph circulation and prevents hyperplasia (abnormal cell development) of mammary glands.

You can't see from this picture but together with the vacuum suction, a red light is emitted from the suction during the treatment procedure. The low-level light therapy works to assist with skin elasticity, smoothness, rejuvenation and spot and freckle removal.

It is a hell lot of benefits in one step, and that is not just it, this treatment is almost pain-free! The suctioning is quite comfortable and is left on for about 30 minutes. You can use your phone or take a nap while the suction pump device does its thing!

Pain score: 1/10

My before-after measurements from the first treatment session

The measurements have all been taken in inches.

As you can tell, the difference is rather astonishing. Within a single session, the radius of my breasts has been increased by approximately 0.6".

For the gap between my two breasts, it has been significantly reduced from 8.6" to 8".

They weren't kidding when they said that the treatment would give fuller and rounder breasts, and a narrower and sexier cleavage!

The results from the first treatment session lasted for about 5 days before my breast sort of deflated by a bit. Nonetheless, I noticed that my boobs were perkier and they filled up my bra cups much better!

As for the after-treatment sensations, I could feel some soreness occasionally for the first two days. The sore sensation is normal and to be expected, so there is nothing to be excessively worried about!

The discomfort is minor and insufficient to render you immobile, hence you can most definitely carry on with your usual daily routine.
